Mint Works - The pocket-sized worker placement game

Created by Five24 Labs

Mint Works is a refreshingly light worker placement game for 1 to 4 players. Easy-to-learn yet deep enough to keep you coming back.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Mint Delivery - Coming to Kickstarter August 29th
over 6 years ago – Thu, Aug 24, 2017 at 01:32:43 AM

Hey there! It's been quite some time since I posted one of these, however it's time for me to get used to it again, that's because I'm launching a new Kickstarter this coming Tuesday (August 29th)

This is for another "Mint Tin" game, this time focusing on the Pick up and Delivery mechanism, rather than worker placement.

Here's a little commercial for the game for you to enjoy until then.

Status Update - February 28th 2017
about 7 years ago – Tue, Feb 28, 2017 at 11:49:48 PM

Well here we are! The last scheduled update. I may post more as time comes along, just to keep everybody in the loop of the comings and goings of the Labs. Our Newsletter and Facebook page will be a better source of information than waiting for a random update via Kickstarter.

I have a few things to share so I'll give you the quick rundown first

  • Status of Fulfillment
  • Mint Works, what's next?
  • Five24 Labs, what's next?
  • Media
  • Feedback
  • Sonic Time

Status of Fulfillment

At this point, the vast majority of backers have received their rewards, however some are still trickling in. I do want to make a quick note that international backers did not get tracking numbers, this is because most of them did not work. If you've been watching the comments you can see that they have still been coming in as late as today.

To that end, if you have not received your rewards by March 3rd please email [email protected] so we can work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

If you have missing or damaged components, please use the contact form on Five24Labs.com to let me know, so that I can work with you to resolve that issue.

Mint Works, what's next?

Right now, I'm in talks with a few different publishers for potentially localized versions of the game, a s well as working to get the game into proper re-distribution. If things continue to move like they have been, there's a very high likelihood of a reprint in the future.

In the next week or two I should have some How To Play videos posted for Mint Works as well, to show the initial setup and teach the basics of the game for standard and solitaire play. These have been requested frequently and we hear you!

Five24 Labs, what's next?

Here at the labs Myself and Mel are always working on something new, we have a few projects that are near completion and will likely get at least one of them into pre-order or potentially another Kickstarter campaign this year.

The real debate we are trying to solve right now is, do we push another mint tin game, or go with something a little different. We have yet to solidify that decision at this point.

Media

Reviews, both textual and video form are starting to show up, and I was on an episode of the Omaha based podcast Across The Board. Here are a few links to some of the articles I've seen:

Feedback

We love to hear from you, if its concerns, rules questions, wanting to show off your art portfolio, or just wanting to say "Hello" please feel free to do so via the contact form on five24labs.com

On that note, as we continue to move forward and need more testers we will be using our community forums even more. Status Update - February 14th 2017
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 15, 2017 at 12:12:47 AM

Good evening everyone! And welcome back to update Tuesday! We don't have many of these left at this point. It will be a short one today just to give everybody some info with what's going on and what not.

Fulfillment

Fulfillment has been underway and it appears that lots of you are getting your game already. This is excellent news! I keep getting notifications all over the internet that people are getting their games and posting about them! So exciting and so cool!

At this point, every package we have an address for has been shipped, and is either in the mail or at your house already. Over these next couple weeks I'll be working to make sure everybody gets their game and that it's all intact.

It's not all rainbows and unicorns however, there have been some issues with the tracking numbers, as well as a few people with broken/damaged bits.

Tracking Number Woes

For those of you that have gotten your tracking information, a lot of you are seeing a screen a lot like this:

Seemingly no real information beyond the fact that it was started. For whatever reason, this is how UPS/USPS provided the tracking information to us.

Hope is not lost however, you will see at the bottom of that image a Package Identification Code if you take that number, and head over to USPS tracking, you will be able to get actual  tracking information for your package.

I'm pretty sure that international backers have not received their tracking numbers yet, you will as soon as the fulfillment company is ready to send them out. Regardless, your games are in the mail.

Damaged / Missing Components

I've gotten a few reports about damaged and or missing components, this is something that unfortunately will happen. Please contact me here on Kickstarter or via the contact form at Five24Labs.com if you have damaged or missing components and I'll get replacements out to you as soon as I can.

Future Updates

Chances are, February 28th will be the last scheduled update. It's so strange to think this, but the amount of information that I need to broadcast out to all of you is starting to dry up!

That said, there can always be updates sent out after that as needed, they just won't be scheduled to happen every 2 weeks at that point. I'll continue to be around on the internet and chime in when I can. Lots of you are already starting to step in and answer other questions and i really appreciate that! (that's a good way to get a geek gold tip from me)

That's all for now, everybody that doesn't have the game yet, keep an eye on your mail box! For those of you that have gotten yours keep playing and posting and talking about Mint Works.

All of you are the best backers ever, and I couldn't have done this without you. See you all in two weeks! (With Sonic pictures)

Status Update - January 31st 2017
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 01, 2017 at 12:19:20 AM

Greetings! It's been two weeks already?! Well then, I guess it's time for another update! This update is going to be a little different than they have been over the last few months. So, sit tight, and we will just power our way though it!

All of these status updates that I've been putting out since the end of the campaign have been full of lots of great news and status updates. This whole process has been very surreal to me, as the campaign has continued to move along.

We have had very few problems, and none of those have been anything major. Overall things have stayed on track. It seems like every update is just more good news and excitement. How is this real life?!

We all know how it goes, you back a project on Kickstarter and things seem good, but eventually something goes wrong, and it's not really a huge deal but there is always something that you didn't expect and it makes you a little sad, but it all works out in the end. Since the campaign has funded, I ask myself each day "What did I miss? what will be the thing that goes wrong and upsets everyone?"

So, it only seems fitting that so close to fulfillment, something would go wrong, right? I mean there is plenty of things that could go wrong. I can (and have) enumerate all sorts of possibilities of things that could go wrong between the ship docking, and the games making it to the fulfillment center.

However, something has happened that I didn't expect at all, I didn't plan for it in my wildest scenarios. Here we are January 31st, four months away from the deadline (just barely) and it's happened. I can feel your sense of dread already, you're dying to know what it is. "What happened?!" you're yelling at your screen. So, I won't delay any longer.

FULFILLMENT HAS BEGUN

Yes, that's right, fulfillment is in process as of TODAY! I received an email from the fulfillment company this afternoon saying that everything has come in and looks to be as it should. They already started stuffing envelopes with product!

As I get tracking information from them, I'll do my best to get it out to you in a timely fashion. At this point, there is a really good possibility that most of you will have your games by mid-February.

Wooo hooo!!

Ok, now that I've gotten the super awesome news out, let's get to the rest of the update! What are we going to be covering?

  • Status Update (sike, you already read that part!)
  • Production Timeline
  • Incomplete Surveys
  • Show me the hegehog! I'm only here for SONIC

Production Timeline

Here we are the end of January, and I had hoped to be working our way though customs right now. Instead, we are fulfilling two weeks earlier than my earliest predictions!

My favorite part of this image, is that every single item is either in progress or complete! So exciting! Here's hoping that last box fills up nice and quickly.

Incomplete Surveys

One last little bit of housekeeping, there are 107 backers that cannot get their games yet. This is because they still have not filled out their survey. This means I don't have their address!

This is a little under 2% of the backers, which I'm told is better than most. (Typically, 5% don't complete their surveys) However, I really want to get these people their rewards!

I've sent many emails to these backers in hopes of getting their attention. I can only hope that they will at least see this update. If you have not received any emails from Backer Kit since the end of the campaign, please check your spam folder. In order to get your rewards, you need to complete your survey for Mint Works on Backer Kit.

The link to complete your survey and enter your address information is here: http://mintworks.backerkit.com

Please don't send me a message with your address information, go to the site and enter it there. The last thing I want it so enter your information wrong and cause you to not get your rewards.

Show me the hedgehog! I'm only here for SONIC

Sonic wasn't feeling very photogenic, but he was pretty happy to hear the news! Now he gets to be in all of your homes.

Status Update - January 17th 2017
over 7 years ago – Tue, Jan 17, 2017 at 10:47:25 PM

Hey there everyone! It's been a pretty quiet couple of weeks, but I still have plenty of news for you! What are we gonna cover? Well let me tell you!

  • Status Update
  • Timeline Update
  • Most Anticipated Games of 2017
  • Great Plains Game Festival

Status Update

First thing's first - the boat has made it to the US! This is excellent news! However I do want to make it clear (because I forgot to specify in the last update) that the boat is not at our port yet. Currently the APL Houston is moored at the LAX port, and we are waiting for it to reach the OAK port.

However, have no fear! The ship is scheduled to reach port on the 21st of January. My fulfillment company suggests that it will take roughly a week or two after hitting port to begin sending out copies to all of the backers!

What does this mean to you? Well it means that it's very likely that backers will start to receive their copies in February, a full 3 months early. Huzzah!

Timeline Update

According to our timeline we shouldn't even start fulfillment until late February, so we are definitely ahead of schedule at this point. Let's hope everything goes according to plan and we stay that way!

Most Anticipated Games of 2017

Official voting for the most anticipated games has opened, and many of you have already voted for Mint Works. As of right now there are only 5 days left to vote. So, for those of you who want to vote and have not had the opportunity to do so yet, here is the link: Vote for the Most Anticipated Games of 2017

Great Plains Game Festival

Registration for the Lincoln based annual board game convention has been opened up, and if you are in the area you can register here.

I'm super excited for GPGF this year because of the giant-sized Mint Works that we will be letting people play there, but because things are ahead of schedule, it's very possible that we will actually be able to sell copies of Mint Works at the event!

That is all for now, if all goes well the next update will be me telling you about how we have made it through customs and fulfillment is about to begin.
